Reginald John Farrer (1880-1920) was an alpine plant collector, gardener and garden writer, his style of garden writing profoundly influencing the way future writers treated the top.  His novels were not so good.   Notable for their sharp, sometimes maliciously observed asides regarding aristocratic lifestyles, none were well received by critics.  He returned to London where, during the first world war, he worked in John Buchan's Ministry of Information, but he was disgusted by the propogandist journalism it produced. This is his verse drama.
