First published in 1936, HE Bates' evocation of a year in the life of an English woodland has been beautifully reprinted to make the perfect gift for gardeners and nature lovers.  Bates describes everything in loving detail - the colour and texture of the buds as they open, the crunch of twigs underfoot, and the endless variety of plants and flowers, each emerging in turn with the changing seasons.
