480pp, with tissue-guarded frontispiece and many further black and white plate illustrations.  Red publisher's cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering front and spine; gilt and blind embossed decorations. Top edge gilt, other text block edges deckled.  8vo.  Cloth heavily worn, rubbed and marked, rubbed and rounded at corners and ends of a sunned spine.  Text block edges a little toned, with some spotting on first and last few leaves. Front hinge cracked, so slightly shaken.  Newspaper clipped regarding the death of Hermann Klein pasted to front free endpaper.

The memoirs of Hermann Klein (1856-1934) the English music critic, journalist and vocal teacher at the Guildhall School of Music in London. A proponent of the methods of Manuel Garcia, second wife was the writer Kathleen Cornwell, and their daughter was the writer Denise Robins.
