Theosophy is an esoteric movement founded by the Russian/American mystic Helena Blavatsky in the late 19th century blending aspects of Eastern and Western traditions towards universal "Ageless Wisdom". Many of its followers denied that theosophy is a religion but it is variously classified by critics and scholars as a new religious movement or a form of occultism.
