Complete in thirteen uniform volumes. Each volume has an engraved frontispiece.  Half bound in brown, pebble-grained leather over marbled boards, five raised bands to spine, with gilt lettering and decorations.  All edges marbled.  Marbled endpapers. 12mo.  Boards are a little worn with the leather rubbed and scuffed a little in places at edges, some occasional rubbing and minor indentations on edges.  Spines just a little sunned and the gilded lettering of the titles and decorations dull.  Upper text block edges darkened, obscuring marbling.  Internally some volumes show a little faint and scattered spotting on the first and last few leaves else generally neat, clean and bright.  Volume II has a short tear in leather at the top of the front joint. Volume X has a small paper scar on the upper panel. Volumes robust with bindings remaining firm and tight.  A very large and heavy set with a packed weight around 11kg, requiring an additional charge for overseas delivery.

A handsome and imposing set containing novels and other writings of the William Makepeace Thackeray, including The Virginians, The Newcomes, the Christmas Books of Mr A Titmarsh,  The Fetes of July etc.
