130pp.  First trade edition, first impression. (A numbered limited edition printed on handmade paper was issued at the same time). 4pp stitched booklet in illustrated stiff card covers with French flaps.  Two drawings by Althea Willougby (one on front over, the other, full page and coloured for title page).  12mo.  Covers are a little worn and very slightly toned in margins.  Previous owner's name neatly inked on illustrated page else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  

The Ariel Poems was a series of 38 booklets of poetry, mostly illustrated, published between 1937 and 1931 originally by Faber & Gywer and then, from 1929 onwards, by Faber and Faber.  They were all printed at the Curwen Press.  Poets featuring on in the series included D H Lawrence, Walter de al Mare, Siegfried Sassoon, T S Eliot, Paul Nash, Hilaire Belloc, Edith Sitwell etc.
