Regarding a group of four Scottish artists - Francis Cadell, John Duncan Fergusson, George Leslie Hunter, and Samuel John Peploe - known for the vibrant, bold use of colour.  They were strongly influenced by modern French art and, while not a formal group with acknowledged shared goals, they are considered among the most important 20th century British artists, celebrated for distinctive, experimental styles  and for bringing French Fauvist and Post-impressionist influences to their native country.
