[2], 112pp. Half bound in blue Morocco leather over pale blue cloth-covered boards, five raised bands on spine, gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. 12mo. Boards are a little tired and worn, gently rounded on corners and lightly rubbed at spine ends. Unfortunate rust mark on slightly toned endpapers, pages slightly toned. Previous owner's name inked, faintly, on first true leaf else internally neat, clean and tight.
A later edition of Fitzgerald's liberal but well loved translation of the Rubiayat of Omar Khayyam, together with critical notes and analysis, comparing and contrasting with earlier editions, notes on Omar Khayyam and, briefly towards the end, some small commentary on Fitzgerald's translation.
A pleasingly evocative volume, showing some patina of age and use.
