Volumes I and II (of three) only). First editions. Volume I: lxxx, 496, [2]pp, with plate frontispiece, map facing p306. Volume II: xxii, 504pp, with plate frontispiece. Both volumes cheaply rebound, with replacement endpapers (marbled), with clumsy and now failing tape repairs over spines, boards worn, marked, rubbed all round edges. Label on both paste down, stating Bosanquet. Rock. (perhaps a reference to the Bosanquet family who lived at Rock Hall in Northumbria from 1804 to the the late 1940s). Text block edges a little toned. There is some faint and occasional foxing to page but generally text blocks are clean, neat and bright.
