First edition, likely a later printing (printer's code at rear 378.341 indicating the volume was printed in March 1941). 153, [7]pp with 76 illustrations of which 64 are in full colour.  Green cloth-covered boards with deep green titles from and spine.  24mo.  Cloth boards are heavily faded around spine and edges, rubbed and rounded corners and spine ends, various small indentations on edges, some marks.  Upper text block edge dust dulled.  Previous owner's name neatly inked on front free endpaper else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  Plain dust wrapper with printed titles etc front and spine, rubbed at edges, slight toning with bumping and short, gapping tear at head of spine.

One of the earliest books in the Observer's Pocket series in a plain and apparently unrecorded variant dust wrapper.  The wrapper has no illustrations or colouring, just plain printed titles and is possibly a printer's dummy or a pre-publication wrap for a review copy (if you know better, please let us know).  Dust wrapper lists the preceding five titles in he series (and no others) on the inner front flap; with a matching list of titles in the series  appearing opposite the title page.
