First editions, first printings. xx, 524pp, with black and white plate illustrations; xviii, 525-968pp. Both volumes uniformly bound in publisher's blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. 8vos. Cloth is very gently rounded on corners and spine ends; and there's some offset tanning on the endpapers of both volumes, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. Dust wrappers are worn and chapped around edges, faded, price clipped, with a few small chips and marks, sunned over spines.
