Grey Owl (born Archibald Belaney, (1888-1938) was an English-Canadian writer, public speaker and leading conservationist. Born in Hastings in England, later in life he passed as half-Indian and achieved some fame - and success - promoting wilderness conservation. His true identity was only exposed after his death.
