Full collation unknown. Green textured paper-covered portfolio, with green satin ribbon tie, gilt lettering on front panel containing 18 plates with illustrations from photographs and caricatures of characters from the play from drawings by Phil May. Tall folio. Covers are a little worn at edges, with lettering dull. Ribbon tie is creased and fraying at edges. Internally a little spotting and light toning to endpapers, with a few small ink marks on rear, lower flap. The plates show a few mild signs of figuring and one has a crease along one edge (not affecting image).
A programme from the 200th performance of the play, on 7th May 1898 also loosely laid in. The programme is a lightly spotted and a little toned.
The majority of the plates show caricatures of the the characters from the play after drawings by Phil May but there are also plates from photographs, one of the lead actress, Winifred Emery (1864-1924), another with cameo portraits of some of those connected with the production of the play and one showing the Haymarket Theatre at the time.
