The edited memoirs of Tom Howells, known as Hockey for his habit of having Hock in his lunchbox.  Howells was a Newport Dockworker and served in the navy during the Secord World War.  His memoirs reveal much of the hardship of poverty and unemployment in south Wales in the 1930s, and of the precariousness of life at sea and in a labour camp.  There's a handwritten letter from his wife, Hilda, who edited the memoirs, describing his life while pitching (I think) for the volume to be expanded and republished, loosely laid in.
