Fletcher (died 1848), was a Catholic priest and professor at St Omer throughout the time of the imprisonment of some college members following the French Revolution. His 'Difficulties of Protestantism, first published in 1829 at a time when greater Catholic emancipation was a major topic of political debate, examines perceived inconsistencies and challenges within Protestant doctrine and is widely considered significant as a part of the contemporary Catholic apologetics against the Church of England and a key text in the context of 19th century Anglican-Catholic debates. Scarce in its original edition.
