A collection of 62 hymns, with words and music, written for use in St Clement Danes church (one of the two 'island churches on the Strand, London) by husband and wife team of William and Louie Pennington-Bickford.  Louie Pennington-Bickford was the daughter of J J H Septimus Pennington, the Rector of St Clement Danes in the early part of the 20th Century.  On his death, her husband William became Rector.  The church was bombed during the Blitz, in May 1941 and William died five weeks later, it is said because of the heart-ache and trauma of the bombing.  Unable to live without him, Louie jumped to her death from an attic window in September 1941.
