Rushton Triangular Lodge, a folly in Northamptonshire, was designed by Sir Thomas Tresham and built between 1593 and 1597. Tresham, a Roman Catholic, had been imprisoned for 15 years for refusing to convert to Protestantism. In his release, he designed the Lodge as a demonstration of his faith and his belief in the Holy Trinity.
