Undated. An early reprint, circa 1931/2 (although the volume is undated the list of the author's other works includes The Vintage of Yon-Yee Rice which was published in 1931, a year after the first edition of this book, but does not include Ann Zu-Zan which was published in 1932).  320pp.  Red cloth-covered boards with blind tool work decorations on the upper panel, black lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth just a little pushed at spine ends and a hint of rubbing on corners. Text block edges toned.  Suggestion of offset tanning on endpapers else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original paper dust wrapper, shelf worn, with some short closed tears, rubbed a corners, spine ends crumbling with some loss at spine base.  Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.

Miln (1864-1933 was an American actress and writer.  Having spent much time travelling and performing in Asia, her first two books were travel memoirs and several of her novels are set in the East - mainly romances set in China. Rice revolves around a mother and daughter and the sacrifice the daughter makes to fulfil her mother's dream to taste white rice just once in her life.
