A portfolio with tipped in colour plate on front cover and eleven further mounted, tipped in colour plate illustrations of frescos from the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, preceded by a 6pp critical and historical essays on the frescoes and their significance, with a plan of the ancient city. Illustrated stiff card covers. Slim elephant folio (circa 14 inches tall). Card covers are worn and a little browned, gently rubbed at corners and spine ends. Internally there's some browning (not affecting plates) to pages and the binding glue has become brittle.
