Andre Previn (died 2019) was an American conductor, composer and pianist.  Achieving international success and recognition in later years, he began his career arranging and composing music for MGM films.  Arriving in Hollywood at the age of 17, classically trained but otherwise clueless, his rise was meteoric and he went on the fashion the musical scores for a variety of films including Gigi, My Fair Lady, Porgy and Bess and Jesus Christ Superstar - gathering four Oscars along the way.  Previn left Hollywood in 1964 and went on to become on the world's most sought-after conductors.  No Minor Chords was his first autobiographical work, described upon publication as 'a truly virtuoso performance'.
