All volumes uniformly bound and presented: green cloth-covered boards with de Balzac's signature gilded on upper panels, gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Tissue-guarded frontispieces, and two further plate illustrations interleafed in text. Title pages printed in red and black. Top edges gilded. 8vos. Cloth a little worn and brushed, gently rounded on corners and spine ends. Spines on all volumes are heavily sunned, making cloth brittle and occasionally frayed at spine ends. Text block edges a little toned and dust darkened. Some occasional spotting on endpapers, free endpapers have some toning, Several volumes have a previously owner's name pencilled on the free endpaper; Cousin Betty has some uneven fading to boards; Condreville Mystery has a creased tissue-guard; two or three volumes just a little skewed; Lily of the Valley has a tiny hole at the base of the frontispiece and title page;
