Reprint.  256pp.  Grey cloth-covered boards with black titles on spine.  12mo.  Cloth is dulled, gently rounded at corners and spine ends, and a touched rubbed on extremities.   Text block edges spotted.  A little offset tanning on endpapers, and a previous owner's name neatly inked (dated 1950) on the front free endpaper, else internally neat and clean. Firmly bound.  In its original Hodder and Stoughton yellow jacket, rubbed and chipped on corners and spine ends, slightly sunned over spine, shelf worn.  Dust wrapper is a removable, clear film sleeve.

A popular series of reprints of the works of contemporary writers, Hodder and Stoughton issued their yellow jackets from the 1920s to the early 1940s, paused during the war and then had a brief revival in the 1950s.  The series comprises mysteries, westerns, detective stories and thrillers for the most part, and are easily recognised by their distinctive yellow background (albeit reminiscent of the Gollancz yellow jacket series), often fronted bold and colourful illustrations.
