188pp, in stiff card covers, with maps and many contemporary advertisements (mainly for the inns and taverns featured in the guide).  12mo.  Covers are worn, rubbed at edges and creased where they shouldn't be.  A little page toning else internally neat and clean, and tight.

Although there have been books published on London's drinking establishments, this one has the benefit of being both hard to find and highly unusual.  It is a 1960s guide to welcoming inns and taverns, arranged on an area by area basis, but the tone is highly personal, witty certainly, but often as much about the author's personal preferences as the inns and taverns themselves, and the information provided detailed to the point of trivial.  It does though constitute a wonderful snapshot of a certain type of 1960s drinking culture and the institutions that facilitated it - even naming the landlords and detailing some of their peccadillos.
