Complete in two volumes. xxx, 648pp; x, 672pp, with monochrome portrait plate frontispieces. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on front panel and spines. 8vos. An ex university library set, with the usual library markings on spines, endpapers and small stamps on the copyright page of each volume. Boards are rubbed around corners, joints and spine ends, a little pushed on corners and spine ends, scuffed at spine ends, with call number labels taped over spines. Volume one has a strained gutter; backstrip coming away from text block ahead of the title page in volume two, resulting in a little wobbliness of front panel. Text block edges dull. There is some occasional, faint pencil underlining in volume two, else generally both volumes internally neat. clean and bright.
