A collection of hundreds of black and white photographic illustrations of the damage caused in Dover and the South area caused by the Great Storm, October 15-16, 1987, with some commentary.  Often referred to as a hurricane, it didn't' actually meet the criteria, although there were hurricane-force winds; the storm caused the loss of 18 lives in England and brought significant damage, including the loss of millions of trees and widespread disruption to transport and power supplies.  The storm has a long-lasting impact on the landscape of the Weald of Kent, opening up views and vista that had previously been obscured by forestation and undergrowth.
