First edition, second impression (1922 printing).  350pp, with illustrated frontispiece and full page line drawings interleaved in text, all by H R Millar.   Red ribbed cloth-covered boards,  with gilt lettering and blind decorations front and spine. Top edge gilt. 12mo.  Cloth is worn with some old damp stains and mild marks, rubbed and rounded at corners and ends of a  quite heavily sunned spine.  Fore and lower text block edges toned.  Lacks front free endpaper, remaining endpapers and half-title page variously toned,  Some occasional faint foxing throughout.  Volume skewed.

From the author of the children's classics The Railway Children and Five Children and It, House of Arden is one of Nesbit's time-travel stories, first published in 1908 after serialisation in The Strand Magazine earlier that same year.  The second impression copy of a highly collectable and hard to find children's classic is in poor only condition and requires some tender, loving care. It is textually complete, firmly bound and very readable and may serve to fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced and afforded.
