Graham Sutherland (1903 – 17 February 1980) was a prolific English artist. Notable for his paintings of abstract landscapes and for his portraits of public figures, Sutherland also worked in other media, including printmaking, tapestry and glass design. Such was his standing as an artist in the post-war years that he was commissioned to design the huge tapestry - Christ in Glory in the Tetramorph - in the newly built Coventry Cathedral after the old Cathedral had been destroyed by enemy action.
