Undated but circa 1930.  378, [4]pp.  Black cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine.  16mo.  Cloth gently pushed at spine ends.  Upper text block edge spotted.  Previous owner's name neatly pencilled on the front free endpaper, faint foxing on endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original, illustrated dust wrapper. rubbed at edges, small nick from upper edges, some flat creasing over spine, a little shelf worn. 

An attractive story of a Glasgow minister and his family, bound up in Glasgow life, and son who goes up to Oxford: 'we lose ourselves in this book and laugh and sympathise with the members of his family, so typical of all the Elizas we all know' (from the blurb on the dust wrapper).
