Text in French. A complete, eight volume set of a newly revised, third edition of Benezit's monumental work first published in 1911. This set is No. 11129 (stamped on the limitation page) of the first printing of the third edition. With 32 plate illustrations in each volume, as well as many reproductions of artists' signatures in text. All eight volumes uniformly bound in plum red cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on upper panels and spines. Grey endpapers. Large 8vos. Cloth is a little brushed and lightly pushed in at spine ends, with a couple of volumes having minor indentations on edges. Upper text block edges are dust darkened, remaining edges with a hint of toning. Internally neat. clean, bright and tight. A pleasing and presentably smart set, albeit not perfect.
