English novelist and short story writer, Georgette Heyer effectively established the historical romance genre and its sub-genre of regency romance. She has remained popular among readers since the publication of her first novel, The Black Month, in 1921. Although perhaps best known (and collected) for her regency romances, all written with great attention to historical detail, she also wrote thrillers and detective fiction.
