vi, , 222, [2, publisher's catalogue]pp.  Green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the upper panel, black lettering to spine.  Patterned endpapers.  12mo. Cloth is a little tired, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, sunned over spine, with a few scattered mild marks.  Text block edges a tad toned.  Endpapers a litlte toned, with some faint and scattered spotting on first and last few leaves else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  

A biography of John Graham, Viscount Dundee, widely known as Claverhouse (1648-1889).  Graham was a Scottish army officer, responsible for poling Scotland southwest Scotland to suppress religious unrest and the Covanter rebellions of the late 17th century.  His allegedly brutally in discharging his duties earnt the nickname Buildy Clavers.  A royal loyalist, he remained supportive of James II after his deposition during the Glorious Revolution and the Jacobite Rising of 1689 before losing his life at the Battle of Killcrankie.
