Katharine Briggs (1898 – 1980) was a folklorist, sometime President of the Folklore Society and and author of The Anatomy of Puck, a four-volume dictionary of British folk stories and other works on fairies and folklore.  This volume contains and selection of papers presented at a symposium in her honour in the early 1990s and includes essays such as Reimund Kvideland on Establishing Borders: The Narrative Potential of a Motif; Alan W.
