Wolfgang Ernst Paul was an Austrian theoretical physicist and a pioneer in the field of quantum mechanics. Having been nominated by Albert Einstein, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the exclusion theory (also known as the Pauli Principle), a discovery which involved spin theory and provided a basis for a theory for the structure of matter. After a personal crisis of divorce and death in the family, Pauli consulted Carl Jung, becoming a key collaborator with the famous psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
