First edition, first impression.  xx, 396pp.  Green publisher's cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine.  8vo. Cloth rounded and pushed on corners and spine ends, a little worn.  Text block edges lightly spotted.  Previous owner's name neatly inked on slightly tanned endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.   In its original paper dust wrapper, rubbed around edges, slightly crumbled on corners and spine ends, shelf worn with mild toning visible on verso.  Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.  A series of newspaper cuttings regarding haunted premises and ghost sightings from the 1970s loosely laid in, together with four sides of manuscript notes regarding a possible ghost sighting by a college undergraduate in Cambridge in 1954.

In a volume revered for its pragmatic analysis, some of the best attested cases of ghostly sightings collected by the Society for Psychical Research in the early part of the 20th century.
