Bronwen Naish (born 1938) is a Welsh musician, music teacher and politican. having played the cello for many years, at the age of 26, following the birth of her fifth child, she took up playing the double bass. At the peak of her musical career in the 1960s and 1970 she was the only female viol bass player in the world and one of the most progressive players of the instrument. She was invited to write a biographical account of her career as a bassist in the early 1980s. She protested that she did not know to write a book but was advised 'jsut write exactly the same way as you talk'. The result is was 'Another String to my Bow', a light, sometimes hilarious account of how to blaze a trail on the the double bass whilst also being a single mother to five children.
