First edition, first impression. xii, 306pp, with a tissue-guarded colour plate frontispiece (showing a pear which lifts to reveal a portrait of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria), four further colour plates and a folding genealogical table at rear. Green publisher's cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine. 8vo. Cloth is a little worn, flecked with a scattering of white marks and gently rounded at corners and spine ends. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.
A biography of Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria. The charming and unusual frontispiece, with its integrated movable flap, is a reproduction of a novelty print, one of series which were popular in the mid 19th century.
