Volume II (of two) only. viii, 434pp, with tissue-guarded monochrome plate frontispiece and occasional black and white illustrations and page decorations in text. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt motif and rules on upper panel, gilt lettering to spine. Speckled text block edges. Brown waxed endpapers. Boards a little rubbed, rounded corners and spine ends. Both hinges cracks and volume very slightly skew. Two short tears from from upper edge of the front free endpaper. Some spotting and toning throughout. An ex library copy with associated bookplate on the front paste down and withdrawn label and annotations on the copyright page. Also a bookplate from a former owner - L A J & M Baker - on the front paste down.
Most of the entries in this volume had been previously published in the Gravesend Journal in the late 19th century. This is the first edition in book form. An evocative, not unattractive and interesting volume, suitable for reading and reference purposes, albeit showing signs of use and age and requiring some careful handling.
