A legal cause celebre of the late 19th century, the Tichborne case concerned the claims of Thomas Castro (aka Arthur Orton) to be the missing heir of the Tichborne baronetcy.  Eventually convicted f perjury and sentenced to 14 years in prison, Lady Tichborne was convinced the claimant was her son and teh case was not fully resolved in the public mind.  But the Tichborne Affair contains another mystery -  riddle in the very nature of the case itself.
