Cloth is moderately rounded on corners and a little pushed at spine ends. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated, laminated dust wrapper, shelf worn and bumped on extreme edges, a couple of minor scratches on rear panel.
Marianne North (1830-1890) was a biologist and botanical artist, remarkable for her prolific output of plant and landscape paintings (many of which were painted during her extensive foreign travels), her writings and her plant discoveries. Many of her painting, several reproduced in this volume, are held in a special gallery at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew, London.
